Some wedding days come with perfect sunshine. Others… come with a storm that decides to make a proper entrance. Shauna and Paul’s big day at The Fleece Inn Halifax definitely fell into the second category — and honestly, I wouldn’t have changed a thing.

The wind had a mind of its own, but that didn’t stop us heading outside for photos. If anything, it added a bit of Yorkshire drama to the day (and a lot of laughs). Shauna’s veil took flight more times than a Ryanair jet — whipping, twirling and catching the light in all the right ways. It was chaos in the best sense. Every gust gave us another frame full of movement, emotion and pure fun.

The bridesmaids were total legends too. Picture this: dresses flying, everyone laughing, and full-on Marilyn Monroe moments on the hill outside The Fleece Inn. It’s those in-between seconds — the laughter, the wind-blown hair, the joy — that tell the real story. That’s what I love most about documentary-style wedding photography: it’s not about perfection, it’s about personality.

Inside, the cosy stone walls of The Fleece gave everyone a break from the elements. The atmosphere was warm, intimate and full of that lovely Yorkshire buzz. Guests chatted over drinks, the fire was going, and you could feel how much love was in the room. The Fleece Inn Halifax is such a brilliant venue for couples who want that mix of rustic charm and relaxed vibes — perfect for storytelling photography.

But of course, Shauna and Paul weren’t done testing the weather gods just yet. As night fell, out came the sparklers. Yes, in the storm. Absolute madness. But we went for it — and it was so worth it. The sparkler photos are wild, full of energy and laughter
