Toni and John had a summer wedding at Clayfield Farm, and the styling in Dove Barn was the thing everyone walked in and stopped for. A blossom installation arched right over the registrar’s table — white flowers running the full width of the timber wall, with fairy lights buried in the boards behind so the whole backdrop glowed rather than sat flat. Cross-back chairs down both sides, white chiffon tied at the corners, lanterns on the flagstones and petals scattered up the aisle. It is a genuinely difficult room to improve on and they improved on it.
Toni wore an off-shoulder fitted lace gown with a veil long enough to run most of the way down the aisle behind her, carrying white and green with rust-brown ribbon trailing from the bouquet. John was in a light dove-grey three piece with brown shoes and a brown tie picking up the same colour — the two of them together against the red brick of the farm buildings is one of my favourite frames of the summer.
The evening earned its keep. Disco balls up in the pitched white ceiling of the oak-framed room, the floor packed by the time the first dance started, and John picked Toni clean off her feet mid-song while the whole room went up. That is the shot. You cannot plan it and you cannot ask for it again — you just have to be stood in the right place when it happens.
Clayfield Farm sits just outside Pocklington on the edge of the Yorkshire Wolds, roughly half an hour from York. Wayne and Charlotte bought it in 2016 when most of it was falling down, spent five years putting it back together, and opened to their first guests in 2021. That history matters more than it sounds like it should — the place feels looked after rather than operated, and that comes through on the day.
It is exclusive use. You get the farm and the outdoor spaces to yourselves, with no second wedding running down the corridor and no function room being flipped around you at four o’clock. For a photographer that means the day can breathe. Nothing has to happen at a particular minute because another party needs the room.
The ceremony happens in Dove Barn, and it is the strongest room on the site. Exposed brick on both sides, a wall of dark vertical timber behind the registrar’s table, and windows high enough to drop soft light down onto the aisle without blowing out the back wall. Reception and dancing move into the oak-framed venue room, which has a high white pitched ceiling that bounces light beautifully once the evening kicks in. Both rooms seat up to ninety.
The patio and gardens carry the middle of the day — drinks, group shots, the bit where everyone finally relaxes — and the brick farm buildings give you golden hour backdrops within a two minute walk of the bar.
Up to 90, in both Dove Barn for the ceremony and the oak-framed venue room for the reception. It is a firm number rather than a flexible one, so it is worth having the guest list conversation early.
Yes — up to 30 guests on site across the Farmhouse, Martin and Hazel Cottages, the shepherd’s huts, and the honeymoon suite in Rose Cottage. It is included in the wedding hire, which is what turns Clayfield into a weekend rather than a single day.

Yes, and I would recommend it. With the accommodation on site, bridal prep happens in the same place as the ceremony, so there is no travel built into the morning and the start of the day is far calmer than at a venue where everyone arrives by car.

Dove Barn is warm and contained — brick and dark timber, lit softly from high windows. The oak-framed reception room is the opposite: bright and high with a white pitched ceiling that holds light late. Outside, the brick farm buildings and gravel yard take low evening sun really well, so an early-afternoon ceremony leaves you a proper golden hour window.
