Shooting in Sheffield Sheffield weddings have a character of their own. The city sits right up against the Peak District, so you get an unusual combination — an industrial, creative, no-nonsense city on one side and genuinely dramatic countryside about fifteen minutes away on the other. I have photographed at Whirlow Brook Hall with its gardens on the edge of the moors, Mosborough Hall with its history and its walled grounds, Hellaby Hall over towards Rotherham, and Eyam Hall just across into Derbyshire. That last one is worth the short drive if you want somewhere with real age and atmosphere. The Peak District proximity is the thing I would actually plan around. If your venue is on the western side of the city, we can be somewhere with a proper view in a very short drive, and half an hour out at the right time of evening will get you images you simply cannot take in a city centre. It is worth carving out twenty minutes for. Sheffield and Rotherham are a straightforward run down the M1 for me, and I cover the whole of South Yorkshire without a travel charge.What it is like photographing a wedding here

How I shoot
No awkward poses and no standing around. I blend into the background when that is what the moment needs, and I am right in the middle of it when the dance floor gets going.
Family formals get done quickly and without fuss — a short list, ten minutes, and you are back with your drink. The rest of the day I spend photographing what actually happens.
