The Oakwood at Ryther, set in the lush countryside near Tadcaster and just a short drive from Leeds, is a stunning new barn wedding venue overflowing with rustic charm and contemporary elegance. From the romantic Oak Ceremony Room with its oak arches and York stone flooring, to acres of manicured gardens, soft grass walkways, and fabulous bridal prep suites, it’s a true all-in-one venue.
Weddings here flow seamlessly from indoors to outdoors. After saying “I do” in the Ceremony Hall (which seats up to 160 guests), couples and their guests can enjoy fizz and canapés in the Courtyard before moving on to The Old Grain Store for the wedding breakfast and evening celebrations. From my experience photographing Halifax weddings, The Moorlands Halifax is one of those venues that just feels right the moment you arrive. Tucked just a stone’s throw from Ogden and next to the well-loved Moorlands Inn, it offers a brilliant mix of rustic charm and flexibility. I’ve captured outdoor ceremonies here framed by open skies, and the marquee interior is always beautifully styled – perfect for hosting up to 160 guests. The flow from ceremony to wedding breakfast is seamless, and by the evening, with the in-house DJ keeping everyone on the dance floor, the place truly comes alive.
The Bowers Mill in Ripponden has to be my most popular wedding venue – I’ve photographed weddings here over 30 times, and it never loses its charm. With its rustic-industrial style, exposed brick walls, and original mill features, it’s a dream backdrop for couples who want style with real character. The spacious layout works beautifully for both intimate gatherings and larger celebrations, and being just outside Halifax means you get countryside views with guest accommodation close by. Every time I shoot here, I find a new angle or detail that makes each wedding feel completely unique.
The Walton View Hotel in Leeds is a lovely, laid-back spot for couples wanting a relaxed wedding with beautiful countryside views. It’s got a cozy feel, perfect for smaller weddings, and the garden area makes for stunning photos without feeling over-the-top.
