Maria began her morning just 15 minutes from Tithe Barn Bolton Abbey, getting ready with her eight bridesmaids in a gorgeous Airbnb. Spirits were high as everyone prepared for the big day. With the ceremony set for 1pm — and the busy summer traffic around Bolton Abbey in full swing — I’ll admit I was a little nervous she might arrive fashionably late! But Maria made it right on time, looking absolutely stunning as she walked into the barn to start her day.
After a heartfelt ceremony came one of my favourite wedding traditions — the confetti throw! Against the dramatic backdrop of Bolton Abbey ruins, the newlyweds were showered in colour before we captured some relaxed family photos. The nearby fields and the front of Tithe Barn provided the perfect spots for portraits of the happy couple. For couples wanting something extra adventurous, there’s always the option to head into the Abbey ruins for photos (though do bear in mind there’s a charge to access).
As always, the wedding breakfast at Tithe Barn Bolton Abbey was flawless — Cripps & Co never disappoint with their incredible food. Once everyone was recharged, we stole a moment outside for some dreamy golden hour portraits before the evening party kicked off. And what a party it was! With Ziggy on the decks, the dance floor stayed full all night long.
Before I left, we rounded off the evening with a sparkler shot under the marquee lights — a perfect ending to a truly unforgettable day.
I’ve had the pleasure of photographing weddings at this north Yorkshire barn venue several times now, and it’s always a favourite. With breathtaking views, incredible food, and a dance floor that never fails to deliver, it’s a Yorkshire wedding venue that really does have it all.

If there’s one thing this Yorkshire barn wedding has truly lucked out on, it’s the location! Surrounded by gorgeous countryside, the front of the venue faces perfectly towards the setting sun – which means your chances of catching those dreamy, golden-hour portraits are seriously high. The glow, the romance, the magic… all right there waiting for you. (Well, as long as the British weather plays along ).
There’s nothing quite like golden hour at the Tithe Barn. The way the sun dips behind the fields gives you that warm, glowing light that makes everything feel extra magical. It’s the perfect moment to gather your bridal squad, laugh, twirl, maybe even pop a bottle of fizz, and just soak it all in. (Looking for bridesmaid dress inspiration? check out our blog post)
The Tithe Barn truly comes alive once the sun goes down With its epic sound system pumping, fairy lights twinkling behind you, and disco lights bouncing across the dance floor, it transforms into the ultimate party space. And right in the middle of it all? The perfect backdrop for your first dance – romantic, electric, and unforgettable.
And with the tasty food & drink to end the night with bacon sandwiches to woodfired pizzas your evening guests will be well fed
Absolutely! The Tithe’s back garden is the perfect spot to gather your guests for an epic sparkler send-off.
