Nicola & Jack’s Bolton Abbey Wedding at The Tithe Barn

Some days you wait years for. Nicola and Jack had been planning theirs for the best part of a decade, and when it finally arrived, it was every bit worth the wait — a Bolton Abbey wedding at the beautiful Tithe Barn.

The weather, though, had other ideas. Yorkshire gave us the full menu: warm sunshine one minute, a wall of black cloud the next. We spent the day watching the sky, timing our moves between downpours and dodging thunderstorms rolling in over the valley. Honestly, it made the light incredible — those brooding skies did half my job for me.

Inside, the Tithe Barn looked stunning. Cripps & Co know exactly what they’re doing with a barn like this, and the food was genuinely some of the best I’ve seen served at a wedding. Guests were still talking about it hours later.

The details were personal, too. Jack built a set of custom Austin cars for the day, and Nicola assembled them all weeks beforehand — over FaceTime, with Jack talking her through it piece by piece. It’s exactly the kind of thing that makes a day feel like it belongs to the couple and nobody else.

Between showers we snuck away to the Bolton Abbey ruins for their couple portraits. Quiet, dramatic, and completely theirs — twenty minutes that I think they’ll frame.
